Swedish retailer H&M dropped two big bits of news this week! One of my top looks of the BAFTAs Awards this year was Michelle Williams in monochrome a frock which surprising to many was custom made by the High Street H&M, it’s no wonder the brand’s going High End.
You heard right RV Dolls- H&M are planning to release a luxury clothing line according to Women’s Wear Daily. The brand has not confirmed this yet but a spokesman said, “We are constantly looking at new ideas, it’s a natural part of our work“. This is great as long as long as H&M remains inexpensive yet chic.
Also, after successful collaborations with top designers Lanvin, Versace and Marni (the brand’s net worth is now £250 million) H&M have decided expand and launch a new retail chain. Their C.E.O tells more on WWD, “We have many different projects in progress and already next year we will be launching. Like COS, which is very successful with good profitability the new chain of stores will be independent… we have great faith in this new brand and we see considerable potential for further initiatives”
The new chain is set to arrive in 2013. What do you think? The expansion and luxury clothing line would be widely accepted if H&M stays true to ‘low’ dressing concept.
