Hey Fashion Angels, Polka dots are the new ‘it’ trend for this fall and dubbed the easiest style to come from Autumn/Winter trend report, it’s got me excited for the coming season. Polka dots brings out a simple hint of sophistication and is an effortless way to stay on the chic radar, it’s high time RV readers get the deets of the hottest trend featured on countless catwalks.

Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney who first put dots on their runway show led the fashion pack to do the same. Shortly after, David Koma, House of Holland, Diane Von Furstenberg, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent amongst other followed sought. Marc jacobs don a head to toe dotty ensemble from his structured 40’s collection with sheer tights while Stella McCartney took a sexy, oh-so revealing approach with her pieces and displayed sheer panelled dots in a little black dress worn by A-listers like Kate Winslet and Liv Tyler.

All types of Polka dots are welcomed to this trend – Micro dots, coloured, bold, vintage inspired or dramatic dots! Take inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci when wearing micro dots and stick the classic black and white for a clean look. This would help mirror the monochrome trend.

I love Rodarte’s use of dramatic fabrics with different sizes and tones of polka dots in this dynamic sleeveless midi length dress and the delicate dots on this House of Holland bright orange jumper teamed with wide leg trousers. A style Tip for you: although, polka dots suits everyone, I’ll recommend bold dots for petite ladies and micro dots for curvier girlies. wear them in the style of pencil skirts, blouses, and T-shirts but steer clear of polka dots trousers. They lean towards the oh-no-what-was-she-thinking side. Want to go dotty? Hit Zara and French Connection for a wide variety you’ll love!
