Here’s a collaboration I didn’t see coming but boy I’m gearing up for it. Versace is the latest High End designer to join forces with High Street brand H&M thanks to Creative Advisor for the label Margareta Van De Bosch who says, “Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection from H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant everything Versace stands for. Versace is showing us iconic designs from their archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the party season.”
It comes as a good surprise at least to me as Donatella Versace has commented to the New York Magazine on not a being a fan of merging her brand with a high street one such as H&M, “I respect everyone who does it but the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace in H&M would confuse the brand”. I’m glad she changed her mind because it’s a good look for the brand.
Donatella would probably agree as she announced that she is “thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere“. The pieces will include menswear and womenswear on November 17 followed by a pre-spring collection (online only) on January 19! I love the clothes so far. What do you think? I’m expecting massive queues and sell-outs!
