Hey Dolls, here’s a quick update on the Louboutin ‘Red Sole’ Case which is probably about to divide the Fashion World, Yves Saint Laurent has responded saying that Christian Louboutin shouldn’t have exclusive rights to one particular colour in this instance ‘red soles’.
YSL filed Court papers in New York claiming that, “Red outsoles are a commonly used ornamental design feature in footwear, dating as far back as the red shoes worn by King Louis XIV in the 1600s and the ruby red shoes that carried Dorothy home in The Wizard of Oz.”
Further to their claims, Yves Saint Laurent maintains that Christian Louboutin has been deceitful with his trademark application stating that, “As an industry leader who has devoted his entire professional life to women’s footwear, Mr Louboutin either knew or should have known about some or all of the dozens of footwear models that rendered his sworn statement false”.
Taking into consideration the popularity of both brands, I still feel Christian Louboutin’s interest is not affected by the making of the this Yves Saint Laurent pair and his $1 million dollar claim in damages is pushing it too far. Any views? Read Mr louboutin’s side of the claim here!
