Christian Louboutin recently had an interesting interview with the New Yorker magazine where he admits that he doesn’t care for comfort when it comes to shoes.
He says, “I hate the whole concept of comfort! It’s like when people say well we’re not really in love but we’re in a comfortable relationship. You’re abandoning a lot of ideas when you are too into comfort. ‘Comfy’ – that’s one of the worst words. I just picture a woman feeling bad, with a big bottle of alcohol, really puffy. It’s really depressing, but she likes her life because she has comfortable clogs”
I don’t particularly think about comfort when wearing/buying a pair of heels. Of course no one goes out with the intention of buying uncomfortable shoes, however in most cases the nicer the pair, the more uncomfortable it will be. After reading the interview, it reminded me of this weekend as I went about my day in his shoes.
Admittedly, my feet did hurt in the end but It’s easy to disregard the concept of comfort because it’s often compensated with compliments. This interview got me thinking – Fashion Angels, Do you really care for comfort in shoes? Would you pick looking good in your heels over being comfortable?
