I’m still in shock! Not the best way to start the month – Creative Director for Christian Dior John Galliano has been fired. We have all watched the videos where he says ‘love Hilter’ in a Paris bar and read the news about the anti-semetic rewarks for the last few days
First it was the arrest, then the suspension and now it has been confirmed by the New York Magazine that John Galliano will not be part of the show on friday in Paris (Galliano has taken the famous bow at the end of every show for the last 15 years) he will also not be a part of the Fashion House all together! I’m still recovering!
Christian Dior president and CEO Sidney Toledano states “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.” Not entirely shocking but I was hopeful… One of those ‘can’t be true, shouldn’t be true moments’!
Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman has also commented saying “I think John Galliano made a terrible mistake and such offensive behaviour could not be ignored. It is all the same true that he has a huge talent and has contributed enormously to the resurrection of the house of Dior. Who can predict what the future will bring?”
What do you Fashion lovers think? Was it a good call? Did Galliano deserve what he got?
